Content Team Lead for the NSF Grant Funded App Maker Pro Music Tech Lab App Design Village Fall 2016

Selected to co-teach a group of 27 high school students and 4 high school teachers with the goal of helping them design musical mobile apps as part of an NSF Funded Grant.

Author and Recipient of the Edson Grant at ASU 2015/2016, and 2016/2017

CEO of Bot + BotScripts LLC

Awarded $15,000.00 towards the founding of Bot + BotScripts, a company that makes programmable robots for kids and provides educational support to teachers who work with those kids.

 

Atom: Innovation + Product Development Speed Seed Competition Winner

Was awarded $10,000.00 in services toward the development of a working prototype for a programmable robot for kids after competing in a round robin interview pitch event.

           

Author and Recipient of the GPSA Group Travel Grant May 2015

Wrote a proposal and received funding for five graduate students who were attending the Mountain Lake Conference in Mountain Lake, Virginia.

              

Applied for the BMI Woody Guthrie Fellowship Spring 2015

Was the principal investigator and sole author.

 

Finalist for the PAVE Arts Entrepreneurship Grant at Arizona State University in the Fall of 2014

  • Was awarded two Apple Imac computers for the Music Education Computer Lab at Nibley Park

  • Found matching funds for two additional Apple Imac Computers through the Afterschool program

 

Community Engagement and Service

 

Pioneer Preparatory Academy Robotics Club​ 

  • Managed an after-school robotics club for 10 students k-5 once a week for the Spring 2016 semester.

  • Taught basic principles of coding using block based graphic coding interfaces like scratch.mit.edu, boardgames like Robot Turtles, and group activities like game design and coding obstacle courses.

  • Carried out the grant-funded project, Songs of the Heart in association with the Broadwa League and ASU Gammage Auditorium.

 

Music Education Consulting

Contracted Music Education Consultant for the Phoenix Symphony

  • Helped develop programming for a traveling educational outreach concert featuring their woodwind quintet.

  • Helped develop curricular materials for pre, during, and post activities for students that they engage with

 

Contracted Music Education Consultant for Alexander Laing and The Leading Tone an educational non-profit group that offers classes on bucket drumming, step, and other musical projects in after-school programs in south phoenix.

  • Currently helping to develop a project based learning, interdisciplinary curriculum

  • Developing a training program on project based learning for the educators that work at the Leading Tone

 

Volunteer Music Education Consultant for OME (Oh My Ears) a local Phoenix based non-profit organization dedicated to the development of new music in the greater Phoenix area.

  • Helped develop and write curriculum for community events and competitions including the Epic Maker Instrument Challenge and the annual Marathon Concert

  • Helped with grant writing

 

Volunteer Music Education Consultant for AZ Beat Labs an educational organization in association with the Mesa Center for the Arts that teaches the fundamentals of beat making to children of all ages
